About Robert & Amy Jensen
Robert Jensen was born in Calgary Alberta, Canada, both his father and older brother being pilots. His father and uncles served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II. He moved to Mexico at the age of 13 where he learned Spanish in a Spanish-speaking boy’s school. At the age of 19 he moved to Japan where he spent two years learning Japanese. His love affair with aviation began at the age of 16 while working as a fishing guide in Canada‘s Northwest Territories. His favorite airplane became the De Havilland Beaver, flying every day to remote lakes in the Canadian Arctic, as far north as 200 miles north of the arctic circle.
He went to college at the University of Utah where he majored in biology and later attended the George Washington University School of Medicine, where he obtained his medical degree in 1984. He completed a general surgery residency in New Jersey at Saint Barnabas Medical Center, and in New York City at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer center. After that he went to Cleveland where he completed a plastic surgery residency. He has lived in Medford, Oregon since 1991, practicing plastic surgery in southern Oregon. He received his pilots license in 1998 at which time he also met Amy Beth Jensen. They have worked together and traveled together since that time.
Amy Jensen was born in Worcester, Massachusetts and resettled on the Oregon coast as her father served in the Coast Guard. It was here that she grew up among the Douglas firs and sand dunes and developed her passion for the outdoors. At the age of 11 she cycled Crater Lake rim and undertook a four day 300 mile cycling trip across southern Oregon with her father that opened her heart to adventure. Her mother’s perseverance and hard work as a single mother was imprinted and served as a beacon as she entered college, attaining her Bachelors of nursing from Southern Oregon University and later her masters degree as a family nurse practitioner, spending the past 26 years practicing as an assistant in surgery as well as working along side her husband in their private practice. Her modus operandi is to fully immerse in the
present to create enduring memories from her moments traveling, hiking, skiing, cycling and all things
food and wine. She feels like one of the greatest gifts is being able to do this with her tru wuv.
